Gary was a soundman at Gunther Murphy’s, The Bottom Lounge, and lots of other Chicago clubs. When a band mouthed off to him, he’d kill the power at soundcheck. During a set, he’s slowly crank up the reverb. The more he drank, the more you’d sound like Jim Morrison or Jeff Buckley. He had lots of stories. We don’t know if he really had a mic once used by G.G. Allin, and we don’t know if he used that make for singers who made his life difficult. He gave Brian some good advice: you want to know how to make that Peavey amp sound better? How, Brian asked? Take off the damn logo! Gary died several years ago.
